What is PowerZone?
PowerZone is our children and young people’s ministry. We believe God shows us clearly in His Word that the primary responsibility for the spiritual training of children rests in the home. It is here God intends children to be surrounded by an atmosphere where He is honoured and loved, and the principles of His pattern for life practised and respected. We believe the work of the Church is to assist parents and carers in their ministry to their own children. As a church, we seek to come alongside parents and/or carers to support them in bringing up their children to know God and His ways. We strongly encourage not just adults ministering to children, but also children ministering to each other and adults as they mature and develop in their own relationships with God. We want to help them share their experience of God with others and serve them according to their God-given gifts. This leads to children finding their place in the life and ministry of the Church.
The PowerZone team is a large team of volunteers who are members of the Church, and is led by the PowerZone Core Team which includes Lindsey Nelson, Jackie Campion, Karen Hart, Sharon Gay and Amy Verrinder. All of the aspects of PowerZone are covered by our Safeguarding Policy, and all PowerZone leaders have been DBS checked. We are here to serve them and you, and we consider it a privilege to do so.
From 11:30am we provide sessions for children and young people who are 2 years or over. For babies and infants too young to go into the PowerZone sessions, we also have a crèche facility. At present, this is only staffed by one volunteer and so we kindly ask that you are prepared to stay with your baby or child. A drink and biscuit are provided for those old enough to enjoy and we look to encourage a warm welcoming environment for parents, carers and children alike. Breastfeeding is welcomed and if facilities are required for heating bottles etc. this can also be organised. We ask all parents/carers to complete a registration form. This is for our information only and is covered by our GDPR policy.
